Words from DJ Pool regarding his Pool Mix DK, taken from the MegaMixers.com forum:
Thanks for taking the time to comment on Pool Mix DK.
This mix was a true challenge, it was made in a far corner of the world on laptop speakers only. Despite earlier comments, the hours spent on this mix, wasn’t much different than any of my other mixes, it might just have seemed like that to CL, because it was finished in a relatively short time. Fact is, I was stationed in the middle of nowhere, with nothing else to do, than to finish my last planned megamix :) The concept was only to use Danish tracks and samples and that might be why, some people find it different and not like my earlier mixes. I simply did not have the same amount of ‘tools’ (samples and acapellas), as I would have had mixing international music. However, when all is said and done, I stuck to the concept and I myself am extremely happy with the outcome, in fact it came out much better than I had expected.
Poolmix has always been about the music and the tracks. I think the way you have to prioritize as a DJ is:
1. The track selection.
2. The order in which the tracks are played
3. The way the tracks are mixed together
There are so many DJ’s, who’s mixing skills are so much better than mine and that is also why, I have no problems going on retirement. I have described the areas in pop music which I found interesting and I have no more mixes I want to do. I have given my contribution to the mixing scene and now I just want to lay back and enjoy future mixes, from my own favorite DJ’s.
Thanks to everybody for the support over the years, it has been a pleasure..
